Pets
Description: Sure pets are cute and all that, but have you really thought about it? Have you even considered the consequences and responsibilities of pets?
Adapted from a blog of mine...(damn, I'm doing this more and more!)
The main idea is pets, those lovable, cute, and sometimes aggravating little critters that we humans love so much. You see, recently I had been babysitting the man-slave, carnivorous, ben-eating, fish-eating Bunny. Lovingly named Bumsquee(lia) since I didn't know it's gender. However, we molested her/him at my birthday party so now SHE'S a SHE. :D
ANYWAYS! Getting of topic here. Pets are just really freaking hard to take care of and they do take time for them to live happily. When I heard that I was going to be babysitting a pet rabbit, I thought of what everyone else stereotypically thought OoooOOoh! Bunny! Easter Wabbit!! AWW! PAH! Not true at all. It shit like crazy and it smelt. It did NOT like to be picked up and it was such a picky eater that I almost thought it was going anorexic.
What a ton of bricks that was! Here's half of the world thinking that pets are such cute things who require minimal care and will love you whenever you need them to but you don't need to give anything back. What have you been? Living in a plastic bubble? (Haha, but I know you do Flowa :D) Pets are anything but that. Dogs and cats especially need a LOT of attention compared to my rabbit. After only a week of taking care of my rabbit, I was getting annoyed just to change it's food and water. Oh Yah. Dogs and cats probably neeed 10X the amount of care a rabbit does. Think about the consequences before you purchase a pet people! It's not all fun and games!
Yes, I did love the rabbit dearly and it gave me such a yummy feeling to have her extend her head for me to pet every time I stuck my hand in the cage *melts* but there's more then that! You don't want to have to give away your pet because you didn't make the right decision in the first place to buy it! Think before you do!!
So what about you? What kind of pets do you own and do you have any kind of anecdotes for people out there?
